The motivation behind this painting was a trip I made to the Kleinburg art museum that houses some of the work of the Group of Seven. Upon seeing their paintings in person I was stunned by their use of colour and texture. I drove a bit north of the gallery and with a short hike, I discovered this bit of creek and did a painting sketch of it, that I would later reproduce in this painting.
